Preparing for the School Year

As summer comes to a close and September rapidly approaches, it's time for your rising Juniors to begin preparing for the incredibly important year ahead. In the last several weeks of break, students should be finishing summer assignments and completing their required reading. But it's also time to begin registering for their SAT and ACT exams.

Study Tips and Suggestions: 

• Understand the Test Format: Students should firstly familiarize themselves with the test structure and the subject matter covered. The exam is broken up into three required sections, Reading, Writing and Language, and Math, lasting 3 hours - as well as an optional Writing portion lasting 50 minutes. Exams will be scored on a scale of 400-1600; the Writing portion will be scored separately on a scale of 200-800.
• Review and Practice: Students should begin to review contents and sample questions. The CollegeBoard offers free practice tests on their website which students should take in order to gauge their current knowledge and identify strengths and weaknesses. This information will be crucial to share with the AtomicMind team, so we can uniquely cater our support to your student needs.
• Get Support Early: Studying for the SAT and ACT is a huge undertaking, and AtomicMind is here to make studying feel more manageable. Our experienced SAT/ACT tutors will guide your students through this process. In addition to test prep, our specialists can help students create manageable study plans with you and your student.
• Stay Consistent: We recommend that students follow a regular study schedule, as consistent study is more effective than last minute cramming. Allow time to prepare, and contact AtomicMind sooner rather than later!
